The COVID-19 global pandemic is having an enormous impact on almost every aspect of our lives.The rapid and easy spread of this virus has created a substantial amount of interest in the germicidal properties of ultraviolet radiation and the possibility of using this spectrum to disinfect various applications.
This presentation will cover the three types of ultraviolet radiation and levels of germicidal properties and capabilities. The history of the use of various lamp sources which can deliver UV will be explored as well as the risks associated with the various types
UVC will be specifically discussed as a germicidal, how it can be used in various applications such as water and air cleaning.

- Benefits and Risks of UVC:We will explore how ultraviolet radiation issued as a germicidal and the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of ultraviolet radiation including a discussion of near UV vs. far UV.
- ApplicationsWe will review applications where UV is commonly used surfaces, air, and water and how to determine the proper dosing of ultraviolet radiation to achieve inactivation.

Michael has been with Cooper for 25 years within the lighting control group. Holding roles of increasing responsibility from phone and field technical support, system startups, to sales and product management and director of product marketing. Michael has joined our specification sales team bringing his controls knowledge to the specification lighting side. He is a knowledge expert on energy codes, wired and wireless networking as well as IoT applications.
